Who is the International School of Music?

- Graduating Bebopper’s move onto pianorama Junior students, for approximately 2 years.
- Beginner Primary students and graduating Junior Students move to one year of Intermediate Couse and approximately 12 to 18 months of Extension pianorama course.

What instrument does ISM teach?
We teach the piano here at ISM. We teach music as a language, building musicianship skills and using the piano as the main instrument of learning. Our courses are progressive and therefore cater for private tuition after students graduate from group music classes.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. In certain circumstances. Such as a teacher absence. As a general rule there are no refunds for lessons missed. We offer make up classes if available space is known to us. Otherwise, we can email you homework for the week.
Who is International School of Music group courses useful for?
ISM is ideal to start for the young toddler or early preschooler or school age beginner. We teach age appropriate classes. All our beginner classes stay together for the year and beyond. Classes have a course progression and we cater for every level and ability.
Does my child need a piano to learn on when they start lessons?
Yes. Students need an instrument when they start pianorama. Students are most successful at learning when they have an instrument to learn on at home and we begin homework practice from day one of lessons.
Do you have a babies course?
ISM does not have a babies course. The Jitterbugs Music Course for 2 year olds is our youngest course. At this age students are learning to talk, they can walk, and are most receptive to the classroom learning environment. We expect a lot of the unexpected at this age! For this reason, Jitterbugs is loads of fun and completely unpressured.
What type of piano should I Buy?
Buying a piano, is guided by your budget. As an early beginner your child will need a 61 note touch sensitive keyboard as a minimum requirement. Once students are past their beginner book, mostly Junior book 1 or Primary book 1, they will need to update this 61 note keyboard to a more professional instrument.
The intermediate level piano is an electric piano 88 notes and fully weighted.
If budget allows an upright acoustic piano is the best option. Brands and cost is a personal preference.
